What is Fix Club? And who’s it for?
Fix Club is a regular get together for pro and beginner needle-crafters alike, held in South Bristol. We come together to mend our clothes and household textiles.
Hole-ridden jeans, ripped shirts and sheets, wobbly buttons, jumpers that have seen better days? They’re all welcome.
You can pick up hints and tips from the more advanced sewists among us, or help those less experienced than you to fix their stuff.
The aim is to bring people together to reduce textile waste while extending the life of our clothes and having a lovely time.
Zero confidence in your sewing abilities?
Beginners are very welcome. We hope that Fix Club will give you the confidence to have a go, make mistakes and try again. Questions and requests for help are encouraged.
Does a teacher lead Fix Club?
Fix Club is an informal learning space with communal problem-solving at its heart. You and your fellow fixers are there to help one another. There’s no official tuition from one designated teacher. However, we have aspirations to occasionally invite an experienced sewist/mend-maker to our sessions to share fixing ideas or do a short demonstration to inspire us.
Do you provide equipment and materials?
If you have your own sewing basket, please bring it along. You’re also welcome to borrow our bits and pieces. We provide scissors, threads, pins and needles and fabric scraps to help you with your mends.
You can bring along your own sewing machine if that’s what you need to mend your things. But simply fixing by hand is great too.
